24 February 2011JOINT PRESENTATION FOR DIRECT ACCESS
BADT & BSDHT joined forces last night to give a presentation to the GDC Council on how Direct Access would improve patient care.
A reception had been organised by the associations at Chandos House in London. Guests were welcomed by members of both executive councils and listened to presentations from Maragret Ross on training and education, Dental Therapist Charlotte Wake on her working day and Hygienist Michaela O'Neill. Graham Dindol , a GDP with a multi chair practice in the East End of London who employs two therapists and a hygienist, explained how Direct Access would help provide better patient care from his prospective and Tony Newton from the BDHF represented the patients view.
There was time afterwards to mingle and speak with the members of the GDC Council to discuss and answer questions. It was a very positive evening with very good feedback.
BADT & BSDHT will continue to work together for Direct Access.

21 October 2010BDTA Showcase Pavilion a Success
BADT attended the BDTA Showcase Exhibition at Excel last week from 14th to 16th October. BDTA had provided a new Pavilion so that all the Associations were together in a spacious, bright and airy area. Behind the stands was a coffee area where meetings could be held and guests treated to coffee and refreshments.
We certainly felt it was a move in the right direction and we had plenty of room and it was a delight to be able to hold meetings with Proctor and Gamble, Shulke-Meyer, our publishers and others in a comfortable environment. We also took the opportunity to network with the other associations.
The theme for the Pavilion was 'Working in Harmony' and to that end a Barber Shop Quartet serenaded delegates in the area. We were so pleased when they also sang from our stand - everyone passing and stopping had big smiles.
We had plenty of conversations with dentists, dental nurses - students - members and others looking to join us. It was a most successful and enjoyable event.
18 October 2010 More...Rumour Unfounded
It has been brought to notice that at a recent BSDHT regional AGM a member of their regional council announced that discussions were taking place between BSDHT and BADT regarding merging the two associaitons. BADT council would like to inform members that this simply is not true - no discussions regarding any merger are taking place at this time.
